On World Diabetes Day, the coordinators of the CARE4DIABETES Joint Action in Asturias have shared the preliminary results of the program implemented in the region and the impact is remarkable.
Results That Make a Difference
8 out of 10 participants have managed to improve control of their condition, reduce medication use, and in many cases lose weight.
1 in 3 people has even been able to stop taking medication.
This impact not only improves patients’ quality of life but also represents a step forward in the sustainability of the healthcare system.
What does the program involve?
“Cuido mi diabetes” focuses on health education, personalized support, and the promotion of healthy lifestyle habits. The first results, recently consolidated with great success, demonstrates that self-care is a powerful tool against type 2 diabetes.
A Project with European Reach
CARE4DIABETES is an example of how collaboration between institutions, healthcare professionals, and patients can transform healthcare.
The initiative is part of the projects highlighted by the EU in its strategy for preventing chronic diseases (https://hadea.ec.europa.eu/news/world-diabetes-day-discover-eu4health-projects-working-diabetes-prevention-2025-11-14_en)
