Joint Action to reverse diabetes
12 European countries & 30 Partner Organizations working together to improve and foster health in the EU Member States by reducing the burden of Τype 2 Diabetes (T2D).
Prevalence of T2D is increasing in Europe, due to increases in overweight and obesity, unhealthy diet, aging, and physical inactivity. CARE4DIABETES aims to support EU Member States’ efforts to reduce the number of patients and the high costs sustained by governments.
The objectives of CARE4DIABETES
The general objective of this Joint Action is to decrease the burden of NCDs and related risk factors by providing a multi-disciplinary lifestyle treatment intervention for T2D to European citizens.
We aim to:
• Improve capacities of EU Member States to plan and implement by sharing knowledge and experience,
• Improve data and monitoring system,
• Improve knowledge and awareness on related disease and prevention inspecific target groups,
• Improve knowledge and abilities for Healthcare Professionals.
Our project
“Α new approach to improve health of people with type 2 diabetes”
This Joint Action is based on a Dutch training program that promotes healthy lifestyle habits. The program focuses on 4 fundamental pillars: nutrition, physical activity, sleep and relaxation. This allows patients to learn more details about their disease, to understand the complications that type 2 diabetes entails, and hence, to improve their quality of life.
